Agility Is About Us

New Normal, a term commonly used to describe the new situation we have had to face since the COVID-19 Pandemic. It’s full of surprises, but it also requires attention to detail and consistency to stay healthy and safe.

Imagine, currently practitioners of Human Resources (HR), General Affairs (GA) and Health Safety Environment (HSE), are thinking hard to make new detailed procedures, to ensure the health and safety of the company and all its contents. Things that are not only about the physical office environment, but also the movement of people, about employee trips to the office, about contact tracing, about working time arrangements. There are also many things that must be ensured to be safe, about health insurance, about emergency action if there is a PDP, about the legal aspects if someone violates health and safety procedures.

Wow! Respect for those who have worked hard and also for employees who are trying to adapt, take care of the environment. Fatigue and frustration may strike. This is when we learn to increase agility. Agility is not just for the company, but actually it talks about ourselves. Once conveyed by a fellow Coach, that to be agile follow the Javanese adage “ojo gumunan, ojo getunan, ojo surprised and ojo dumeh”.

There are many versions in interpreting the meaning of the Javanese proverb, but the meaning that I like is like the picture below.

With the 4 teachings above, we are trained to be patient, humble, ready to face the ups and downs of conditions as part of God’s scenario. By not being easily disappointed, the mind becomes clearer to take a better step forward. Maybe sometimes we like to move backwards, right? No, because we are actually studying. There is no backward word for learning.

I still have a lot to learn

Hopefully everyone can navigate the new normal happily.
